United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Java Black

Hi mate

I have retrofitted the FBH into my 4.4 petrol car. There is a lot of parts that are required to retrofit the heater into a car that doesn't have it already. If you want a full parts list let me know. The dosing fuel pump is a Webasto 12v DP30, they are the same for petrol and diesel.

A parts list I can check off would be really handy Matt!

Currently thinking:

FBH Unit
FBH Receiver - pre-wired?
CHangeover Valve - not entirely sure where this goes!?
FBH Fuel Pipe
FBH Fuel Pump - I assume pre-wired?
Extra hoses of some sort? - Struggling to visualise, RAVE isn't helping as it only goes up to the BMW 4.4 whereas mine is the AJv8 4.2SC.

It would really be helpful if you take a photo of the FBH you have purchased as there are a lot of ancillary parts that attach to the FBH to allow it to function, I can then give you a complete parts list of what you need.

General Fuel Burning Heater retrofit part list:

Petrol or Diesel Webasto Thermo Top C
FBH mounting bracket - JEU000020
FBH muffler - WDE000070
FBH Muffler insulator and mounting housing - ETR000050
FBH exhaust- JEZ000020
Coolant return outlet pipe - JHB000280
Coolant feed outlet pipe - JHB000270
Coolant bulkhead jointing bracket - JEZ500060
Webasto DP30 dosing fuel pump - JEX500030
2mm (internal)/5mm external fuel line (around 6-7m is needed)
Heater/Coolant changeover valve - JEO000010
Webasto T90 / T91 reciever YWY500090
Webasto T90 / T91 remote
Assorted selection of jubilee clips and fixings and fittings.

You will also need the coolant pipes to pipe in the changeover valve on to the new FBH coolant circuit. I have access to the Land Rover parts system and it lists 4 different coolant pipes for the FBH option on the 4.2. If you can supply photos of the rear of the engine where the coolant pipes go into the rear of the engine and the the dual heater valve (usually on the RH side of the engine bay) these have pipes going through the rear bulkhead to the heater matrix (3 pipes)

In addition to the parts you will need to have the HVAC and instrument cluster re-coded to enable the park heat function.

Before starting this project you need to check if your car is pre-wired for the FBH. The early vehicles were all pre-wired for the option. Easy way to check is either in under the battery tray there should be 2 wiring connectors for the FBH unit. In addition in the rear LH compartment behind the rear fuse box there is a 3 wire, small black electrical connector which is for the FBH receiver.

Hope this is a start for you, just for info, you will also need to carefully drill out the FBH take off from the top of the in tank fuel pump. (white sealed off connector)

I have loads of pictures from my install I did a few weeks ago if that would help

You're a star Matt, pic of the FBH below... Bought a pump last night too.

I was under the impression they were all pre-wired, they'd better be! I'll try and pull the battery tray out tomorrow if the weather is reasonable.

Guessing this is the receiver plug, hopefully that means the rest of the loom is there?

Hi mate

yes if you have the receiver connector you will have the rest of the pre-wiring as its one loom.

From that pic you have the following parts that you can remove from your shopping list

Petrol or Diesel Webasto Thermo Top C
FBH mounting bracket - JEU000020
FBH muffler - WDE000070
FBH Muffler insulator and mounting housing - ETR000050
FBH exhaust- JEZ000020

Just in the process of collecting parts for this retro fit to my 03 Petrol. I have the Webasto and associated brackets and exhaust, had it running up on the bench OK. I do have a couple of questions though. Reading through Matts guide, a divertor valve is used to run the heatered water purely through the cabin heater. Question is do I really need this, or is it asking a bit much of the heater to warm the engine as well as the cabin. Only asking as the valves appear to be the most expensive part of the install.
Secondly, when using the Telestart, where does the signal come from to start the cabin fan ? Does it come from the Telestrat itself ? The Webasto heaters are a self contained unit that dont communicate with the car as far as I know except from the diagnostic line. No7 - 2003 V8 Vogue

Hi Matt

I posted in the technical thread asking if anyone had retrofitted a webasto to an L322 & had a parts list. Looks like you may have one!
Mine’s a MY11 5.0V8 S/C AB & I’ve already found myself a benzine Webasto. I know the wiring look is in there already, and I think I just need the hoses, switch over valve, fuel lines, mounting brackets, T91. Do you have a list of all the part numbers though?

I have a local Indy who’s prepared to give it a go but he doesn’t have time to do all the research.

If you ever found a TOPIx on it too, that would be great.

Thanks!
Jof
