Declaring changes to insurance provider

Just had my insurance renewal and I noticed in the small print that all changes from manufacturers spec is notifiable. I knew that wheels, grill and other external changes were, but window tints and audio system changes are also in there. Makes me wonder if I should notify them that I am not running the same tyres as when the car left the factory and if any of the members that have posted details of the changes they have made are aware... QUID FACIUM TIBI

Hi

If the tyres are the correct spec (speed and size) no need - unless the handbook - states a brand - which i'm sure it doesn't.

If you think about it, as long as you can get the 'part' from land rover be it wheel or grille etc it is to manufacture's specification.

The insurer may want to replace with an original spec type if you haven't notified of any change from what was supplied when the car was made.

Not in the insurance game just my experience of dealing with them .

Simon

I'd agree on the tyres, though I still declare that I run winter tyres - they also have a lower speed rating

On wheels, my insurance has manufacturers optional and aftermarket as separate options

I declare anything not on the build sheet
