Well Dan when eventually you get to the Mountains you will realise what "The Drive" and "The View" is really all about. No better place in Europe to drive/tour than the Alps. Very Happy

PS: And the view starts well before them!

For those who have gone by tunnel, can you confirm that if you miss your allotted time they'll just put you on the next one?

Yes Dan we go all the time if its same part of day you simply get sllocated next train available. Even days later you only get charged £10 in most cases. Much more flexible than folk realise so ne need to panic ever.

As Gaz says, they will just put you on the next available. Generally if you are within 2 hours of your allotted time its not a problem.

I tend to book standard out and flexi back, for one it removes the queues at check in on the france side and the queues at the customs too

Worth the extra for both the lack of queueing and the peace of mind that you can just turn up when you want. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

^ +1 for Flexi especially on way back. If travelling by car (not Motorhome) we always go Flexi and in car you can use the fast lane and free cafe/sandwiches/dinks etc and just turn up whenever and get on the very next crossing...

As Alistair said at the beginning of the thread it will fit in the standard carriage, honest guv. Ive even been shouted at by the marshall on occasion to get in the normal height lane even though i had booked a high bay. High is an easier fit, but there are less loos and you lose the flexi lounge if you go flexi.

If you have a roof rack on you will have no choice though.

Look at that post re the Crit air vignette, it is now needed in Paris, Lyon, Grenoble and Lille i think and is for all vehicles not just diesels. So if you are going near these places then its worth getting one, if not don't bother, it costs less than a fiver and can be done online in about 10 mins. look at the link i posted earlier. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes it can be, which is why I only book it one way......

Remember coming back from Le Mans once, arriving early, into the back of a massive q. Watching all the chaps who had also been at lemans zoom down the flexi Lane. Thinking that's the way to do it since then flexi returns have been the order of the day.

Last few times I've booked it I've managed a decent enough price on the flexi, yes it's more but the last few times I've been through the Calais side, it's been on a busy day and the queues were back to the flyover and continuous right through to U.K. Customs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I skipped Flexi - The cost would have gone from £150 to nearly £400.
