2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
No Power to SATNAV and No sound from radio/tv

I recently purchased a 2002 Vogue. Absolutely immaculate condition but on buying the car I was told that the radio and tv both work but without any sound. This is the case. I decided to have a look at the amp today and discovered the satnav doesnt seem to have any power to it. Could both of these issues be related? There only appears to be one cable attached to the rear of the satnav, is this correct or should the other two I found hanging about be attached?

Thanks Fraser

A power issue interms of the battery no giving sufficient power,or a fuse etc? How many cables should be plugged into the back of the satnav? and the silver box attached to the base of the satnav?

the nav unit should have a white plug and a blue and then the gps lead, do you get the red light on or will it take a disk V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

The light is not illuminated at all. The are two plug dangling in that region, from memory they are white and blue. Looks like il need to remove it to gwt them pluggedin and see what happens.

Edit::::::::::::

Just went out and removed the satnav unit and the two plugs that were not plugged in were blue and burgandy-plugged them in and now have power to the satnav unit. Although I have no disc. So am I correct in saying if I get the disc the display on the dash should work as normal? As at this time I cant access off road or on road navigation.

best thing is, remove the unit....whip the top off..no screws to undo and you will be able to see if there is a disc in there, common prob is the units would fail when trying to eject.. my thought is why was it unplugged Question keep an eye out for new issues now. does your radio work as normal now, when you select nav it should say there is no disc if has not got one or jammed inside. ounce you have removed the unit you will have enough play on the leads to connect it and lay it on the boot floor and if you have any cd try to see if the unit will take the disc,it will try to read it but wont find what its looking for. then try to see if it will eject it,if it does this then the next step will be to get your hands on a map.. don't forget you should have a thin lead that goes to it as well this is the Arial and if ok will show the satellites in the top right hand corner. may be you should take a few pics and post so we can see what you have. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Ok,i have sorted the SATNAV I just need a disc. So the only issue im having now is the radio tv etc all works on the display but i do not get any sound what so ever through the speakers. Has anyone had issues like this before? I have pictures of various things in the rear wheel arch but dont have a computer mind to post them up.

I had a similar issue and when I called the main dealer they told me "it would" be a problem with the amplifier which would cost £600 to replace (they said water would have got into the compartment where the amplifier is situated in the boot). Done a search on here and a few people suggested replacing the amp. Cant remember which amp it was (if you look in your manual it will tell you the number) but i removed and cleaned the amp, put it back in and straight away got my sound back through the radio/sat nav/cd!

Hi there, thanks for your reply. I removed the amp yesterday and took it completely apart. Water had indeed got into the circuit boards. I cleaned them up and refitted it but it didnt work. So looks like a new amp for me. I did also find a little black box called Telemute Module-one of the wires had broke on that,so soldered it back together. When i took the box apart it looked like it had also had water ingress-does anyone know what that little box does.....does it indeed mute the tv?

Fraser just realised I referred to replacing the "amp" in my last email, what i meant was remove and clean the "fuse" from the circuit board. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

HI Guys

May be leading you down a dead end here but this sounds exactly like a problem I had with an E46 M3 which required the BM54 (I think) module replacing, basically all sound dead, when I replaced the unit all was fine.
The unit is located in the same area as the TV Tuner & Amp (I know they are not side by side but not at the headend is what I mean).

Not up to speed with the BMW/LR crossover and compatible parts line ends but it sounds like the issues I experienced. Downside is the unit was not cheap.

Hope this helps...

Thats no problem-when you say the fuse-what fuse? I dont recall seeing a fuse at the amp,or in it when I was dismantling it?

Dogman
The module you are referring to, can you describe it? I came across a box called Telemute Module that had two sets of wires going to it, a set at either end. The module was a little bit smaller than a packet of cigarettes. Does this sound like what you described?

Anyone else had similar problems?

A telemute interface is almost certainly aftermarket addition for an aftermarket phone kit (bluetooth or otherwise).

They are designed to switch the speakers to the telephone audio when a call comes in. This may be the source of your issues as its job is to interrupt the connection to the speakers.

To be certain, can you remove it and reconnect the speaker connections as they would be from the factory?

Any markings on the Telemute box?

If the amp is indeed the item you posted there Dogman I have been looking at the wrong item.
I just ran out to the car quickly, the 10amp fuse in that item posted is fine. The full name and markings on the Telemute module is-----E11 Autoleads Telemute Module V3- and indeed has a connector on it which is identical to the big black connector that goes into the item Dogman posted. Does this sound like an aftermarket item?

Update--- the exact telemute module---

When my tv goes onto a channel that hasnt been tuned in yet (the snow effect on the screen) in green writing at the bottom of the screen it says mute.
