New diagnostic tool for all LR models

I was at British Motor Imports (BMI is a major importer of LR parts and agent for other suppliers) in Sydney yesterday and the owner demonstrated a new Bluetooth dongle on my L322.

It's made by the mob that made the Land Rover Testbook/T4 and works with all OBD2 fitted Land Rovers.

It will be sold by BritPart for UK/Europe, Atlantic British for the Americas, and BMI for Australasia/Oceania. The retail price in Oz is A$605 - that's somewhat cheaper than the GAP IID BT tool. It isn't VIN locked but once activated, it's locked to a particular model.

I thought that BMI had info up on their website but I can't find it. It will be called Logic4 in Oz but something else in the UK and Americas.

Retail. BMI had them at the Australian AfterMarket Accessory Expo trade show http://www.aftermarketexpo.com.au/ in Melbourne a couple of weeks back.

BTW, I have nothing to do with BMI. I was there with one of the chaps from KLR Automotive. Ron B. VK2OTC

About £50 cheaper.
I suppose it's weather it is as good as the gap tool.
Might explain why L/R have blocked certain software to the indys.
still no matter, I'm really happy with the bt iid tool, also wonder if the sales backup will be as good as gap.

There is a Pro licence for indies.

I'll try to find out some more info on Monday. I won't be buying one as I have other diagnostic options. Ron B. VK2OTC

Unnecessary quote removed

I thought they were made to release all software some years ago, or at least the means to communicate with it? Wasn't there a court case whereby a ruling was found that if you buy a motor you can't be held to ransom with maintenance ?

The aftersales backup from GAP makes the tool itself an absolute bargain Bow down

@rodp, I'm only going on what an indy told me last year.
I needed to lower the access mode on my ff, he said he would try and write a new program, as the software pass through box to l/r would not allow them to access it.
after a fortnight's wait, I gave up on him and bought an iid tool bt.
Job done. Thumbs Up

Britpart were main supplier for IIDTool Thumbs Up .

All I can say is that many years ago, when they first started to be about, I was a Britpart agent / supplier. Seriously bad move on my part, customers going ballistic at me. UJ's lasting one week, wheel bearings a month, sundry items not fit for purpose etc etc. Admittedly a lot on competition motors but that's what LR's do, they go off road.
I rest my case.

Then they lost it and the BT version is no longer theirs.

So should I be concerned if the independent garage (LR specialist) I am thinking of using says they fit a lot of Britpart parts? I just bought a 57 plate Vogue SE with 112K miles and full service history and I would not want problems with substandard components

Opinions?

Without wishing to get the forum in to any bother let me just say, "a lot of the wiser owners of LR products will not touch Britpart with a barge pole, a very long barge pole".
