Spent the afternoon installing a cb radio. All went smoothly, and this was to be powered from the aux. socket on the rear console. Plugged in and fired up, no problems so far...
Ignition off, I scanned a few channels, and was about to transmit - I reached for the mike, and the unit powered down.
I'm familiar with the audio power-down, as we all are, but I didn't twig at this point... took 5 and made a coffee, bracing myself to start springing fuses.
So, I thought, try it again, before things get serious. Switched the unit on, and bingo !
Didn't realise that the aux. sockets also have the Big Brother monitoring system... result !
As an aside to this, does anyone know how much current you can pull through these sockets ?

you'll also find that if the battery is a bit low on amps, it will start the engine but won't power the sockets until the alternator has pumped some more juice into it.. ... - .- -.
