United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography TDV6 Carpathian Grey

All good points Mike & I will try the 5.0SC at some point to see if my mind can be changed & as yet I've only been brave enough to perform a couple of B road overtakes & the TDV6 had plenty of go for that, however the sheer size of the thing was my greater worry Rolling with laughter

Not yet had a desire to hustle her along at the same rate I perhaps would in other cars, so I feel the TDV6 application is perfect, but of course not for everyone. Paul

The 3.0 petrol is nothing new on this side of the Atlantic. It's been the 'base' engine since the L405 was introduced. In fact, the NEW engine is the SDV6, which has just become available. (No SDV8 offered here.) I'm guessing with the bad diesel press, JLR looked at the petrol 3 and just said, "Well, we make it anyway. Let's see if anyone will buy it."

So RR you have the SDV6 306hp engine that we get in the Sport over there in the FF?

Personally, no. I've got an L322 with that other North American favourite engine, the non-SC AJV8 4.4 which is great. Very Happy

Yes, JLR has just started offering the 3 L diesel in both the FFRR and the Sport. I got to ride in a Sport at one of their demos last fall. It was certainly very quiet. We were crawling around in low range, so there wasn't an opportunity to see the power, but it certainly has torque.

England 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

Many of you may have read the fact that I'd decided to buy the SDV8 Autobiography to really see if 1. For me the Autobiography works better than the VSE and 2. Whether the SDV8 suited my needs better?

Anyway my time with the V8 AB was just a very short time until the car was unfortunately rejected. However, when my 2015 15 reg tdv6 VSE was returned to me I had the issue of whether to keep it and put back on the cherished plate, front facing camera and do a new set up on the systems (as they restore to factory) or to buy another one. My current car has approaching 29,000 miles on it and is genuinely immaculate, or as near to it as a two year old car can be so it was honestly a relatively tough decision, however I decided to look what was out there and buy if and only if I liked something better.

The easiest decision to make was which variant? It had to be the VSE as for me it does almost everything that I want and the only compromise I had to make was on those lovely winged headrests as currently there were very few with them in the cars I liked. The next issue was which engine and this was a little bit more considered. There's no doubt both diesels are really good units. Different but still strong in their own ways. In the end it came down to three things. First the tdv6 feels a bit more agile. Second is that it's definitely more refined when tootling along in urban situations but less so when knocking on and lastly was availability. I'd have been delighted with either engine in the right VSE but ultimately the one that I bought yesterday is a tdv6 and it looks lovely.

Look forward to the pics.

Does the V6 come with the Dynamic control in any of it's guises? It's a bit roly poly in comparison to the cars fitted with it.

No it doesn't and in my experience the 3.0 tdv6 handles better than the 4.4, it's certainly feels more agile. I honestly think that Land Rover put it on the V8 to handle the extra weight in the front and without it it would wash out a bit.

And did I view first. Of course not. I won't see it until next week but they know it's got to be right or it's going back. It's a 4,000 miler and I'm told it's unmarked.

I'll certainly be checking it but this one was in Southampton and I didn't fancy the drive and swob would have had a gob on her if I'd wasted a day as she see's it. Surely they can't have wrecked one with so little miles but we will see.

It's a MY 16.5 actually. I did have an offer on a MY17 but it was five grand more like for like (66 plate) and as I've had the Sport with the new Media system I wouldn't pay much extra for it and certainly not £5 and the 66 plate didn't have head up display or the sliding roof.

This one has Deployable side steps, my favourite type 101 21" diamond cut wheels, Sliding pan roof, deployable towing, Head up display (that was the one thing I liked on the Sport that they loaned me), privacy and atlas vents. I'd have loved winged headrests but the couple out there with them were otherwise pretty standard. This one also has shadow walnut trim, so unfortunately I won't be able to swap over my wood and leather wheel which I like best because they are just that bit thicker than the standard item and they look good to me.

And as for colours I'm lucky in that I like the full fat in lots of colours, especially the darker ones Thumbs Up
