If it's any consolation, it's no better on the Discovery Sport. |

I only ever got mine to work whilst using a jetwash and that was by mistake. I tried once using my leg, looked a complete prat, failed and never bothered again |

Before I bought my new car I looked at the Disco 5 as I had always loved the Disco 4 and saw online a dealership doing an in depth review of the car. Anyway, the top and bottom of it was when they got around to demonstrating the gesture tailgate he couldn't get it to work and said on the lengthy video that they'd come back to it.....needless to say they didn't! |

Try laying down and rolling under the car , it works fine. |

I think gesture tailgates are designed for your dog to be able to get in the car without you being around.......

It isn't a great feature. When mine does work, only half the time does it full open.

Utterly useless. All I see is wasted money which could have been spent on something useful, like making the cars more reliable for example. Loads of tech being added while the core of the product range still has unresolved issues, as my dear old Mum used to say, All fur coat and no knickers. |

It's threads like this that really cheer my day up. This forum is so diverse. I'm having a cuppa and a couple of minutes break at work so thought I'd head on FFRR for a look. First thread I check is very heavily technical turbo replacement....and as I panic and wonder if I need to unload my FFRR...I take a look at this one which is a real "first world issue" with a wiggly foot....and relax. My car is staying.

I have N1ck and agree but I actually thought the exterior in that Mad Orange looked good under lights in the showroom. I then had one park next to me whilst dog walking in the Lakes. It was a Black one; an HSE and boy am I glad I didn't buy one. It looked very plain to me. I had considered a nicely specced D5 HSE Lux or First Edition but the trouble was it came out at a price very similar to a 12 month old 4.4 AB and the D5 isn't finished as well as the FFRR. And I'm so pleased I stayed with it, gesture tailgate and all. And by the way, despite having the car for the best part of a week now, I've yet to get the tailgate to respond to the wiggle |

A lot of people tend to shake or wiggle their foot under the sensor, one simple pass with your foot and mine works every time 2010 defender utility

4 months in and I still haven't mastered it but I've got to believe there's a knack.
