It's hacking me off. There was me looking to upgrade and the dealers are suddenly unwilling to do a deal.

It's all very fine if demand has gone up and there is a shortage of good 4x4's but have dealers increased the value of their part exchange offers as much as the selling prices.................................... Just heard from a friend of mine who has been driving a very nice Mazda RX-8 for about 6 years that he changed it for an SUV - prices have gone up so much that the used Freelanders he was looking at cannot now be bought with the part exchange value of his RX8 so he's now driving a 2 year old Suzuki Jimny that cost about 50p, is in perfect running order, does a squillion miles to the gallon, is as uncomfortable and noisy as hell and came with a set of winter tyres fitted and a set of summer tyres for when the weather improves, all from a Suzuki dealership. He'll be selling it in the summer when his new Audi A1 arrives but says it's been a brilliant little car in the snow and it doesn't matter if he gets a bash on it, it's worth nothing anyway! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

When I part ex'd the D3 a couple of weeks ago, I joked with the dealer saying that he'd have no trouble selling it, he said he already had a deposit on it unseen and that they'd moved 32 used 4x4's that week |

My recent purchase is now worth 10% more than i paid for it three weeks ago. Who said you lose money on a 4x4? Ian |

It's all well and dandy for people who are selling and own, but when you are wanting to buy a FFRR It's a nightmare as the prices rocket up |

Dealers have to buy as well as sell and at times like this it's hard to get quality stock so there is no real advantage as margins stay about the same. |
