2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

Wow some peoples journeys to work are enviable.

My commute is 5 days a week 35 miles round trip. So thats 35 x 5 = 175 a week 175 * 4= 700 a month 8400 a year....

Still SC me thinks.....

Think that much I'm off to see one this week. If that doesn't go well I'll change my auto trader search to be fuel ANY and use the archermav approach.

Just take into account mileage you do not work related, as 8400 will be if your RR stays at home all the time apart from work, which i doubt Smile

I'd personally forget about LPG, it has has no future (like diesel!).

Many fuel stations have dropped selling it completely, its already quite hard to find now. It was a good idea but sadly it's now rubbing shoulder with Betamax.....

Is this a tongue in cheek statement about LPG....?

I agree it's not in every forecourt but it's not quite betamax either. LPG is widely used on a lot of private and commercial vehicles and I never have had an issue finding or filling up...not the range rover...mine runs on another fuel of the past called heavy oil Whistle Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

My local Shell station a mile away does LPG... perhaps a third option could be SC with LPG already installed? But i guess maintaining/repairing LPG will negate the savings?

If an LPG system is in place I'd consider it. My only concern is an already hot engine with a supercharger then using a fuel that runs hotter. If the car is to be under any excessive stress you may need to think about additional cooling.

If Pete (Haylands) is around he'll offer some good balanced LPG advice Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Thanks.

Phoned a few specialists today and they both said they would go for the diesel. Also is a turbo replacement on a TDV8 £3-4k??

Someone like Mikey could answer this accurately. But I think it would easily cover the cost. ______________________________

Hi All

I'm in a similar situation - I'm just starting the search for a FF Smile

I do approx 30K miles a year, mainly motorway - so the difference fuel wise between a Diesel and a Supercharged engine works out to be about £3.5K/year currently (based on 17mpg for the SC, 27mpg for the TDV8, so the difference may be slightly less with real world figures).

It's really tough trying to balance the choice between the two - the SC will sound nicer and doesn't have EGRs etc to go wrong, whereas the TDV8 will save a fair chunk on fuel, but any EGR / Turbo issues will likely wipe out the difference...

Tough call!

Jon

Jon,
Good luck with the search. There are quite a few high mile TDV8's out there without any issues at all fella. Just to balance it out.

Yeah - I appreciate that.

If I was to get a TDV8 I'd probably do the EGRs as a preventative measure as soon as I got it anyway. I'm fairly handy with the spanners so happy to work on it myself wherever possible... Smile

Do Land Rover do a health check?

As in can you buy one from another dealer and get it looked over (once!) to see if theres anything they pick up immediately?

Or just view the service history and go from there?

I've worked out that the SC's are just £4k out of my budget so its diesel again... Seen one for £16k with 105k miles on it. Seems a fair price.

dingg1 absolutely agree with you i'm driving my wife mad....

Last one from me. Vogue and Vogue SE on a 4.4 is it only heated and cooled seats and no RSE (dvd) that's the difference between the two?

Shutting up after this! Thumbs Up

Vogue gets heated seats, but not cooling ones. Also, the leather is slightly different in the SE. And yes, SE should have the RSE. Although, I'm pretty sure that Vogue owners could specify individual upgrades.

Found this "Vogue SE extras are:

Full windsor perforated Leather seat heated and cooled front, heated rear
Ski bag
12c piece burr wood set
Bright sill plates
Rear Screen entertainment
Electrochromatic exterior mirrors
Bixenon adaptive headlights
TPMS
20" 7 spoke wheels
