Tray?

I went to have a look at a 3.6 TDV8 this afternoon 2010 MY and noticed the tray directly under the engine close to the ground had drips of oil on the two screws at the front of the tray.

Clearly at the moment I've walked from the car but what is that tray called and also is it a case of 'somethings leaking you'd need to strip it down to find the cause' or is it something thats common?

Should be the engine undertray or skid plate! Its not common to have oil on it unless there is a leak.

It could be the engine oil, front diff or something else!

Its easy to undo if you put it in offroad height clmb under and undo the 8 mm (i think) nuts it will drop down.

The worrying thing is that I'm sure the last RR I had, I had the same issue and it turned out to be the CV boot joint however I think that the oil leak was further back under the car nearer the middle.

I can't take the plates off as its a car I was viewing and as the sales people where nowhere to be seen I took a look under the car (nosey....) first thing I saw was 2 screws with oil dripping off and patches of oil under them. Not the best advert for the car but if they can rectify it before sale I'd be happy or tell them to knock money off.......

I tried emailing them about it but their site has a problem... you know when all the signs are there telling you NOOOOOOO lol

Ive reread your post again and see now you were viewing one, not your car!! Would look a bit odd stripping it down on the forecourt! If its a reputable dealer they should sort it but you dont know how long its been leaking for and if its been run dry which wouldnt be good! Whats the service history like??

The facelift interior/exterior is a nice car. Look to see if it has the dual/2in1 front screen. I would look at the service history, general condition and see how it drives. If the price seems right get it mechanically inspected. Mines been serviced every 6000miles or 10,000km. It seems to have benefited from that. ______________________________

Rar110 I believe it is the facelift with dual screen. I couldn't get into the vehicle - well without being arrested.....

I've tried to email the dealer with no joy as it keeps telling me an error has occurred. I will ring them because it could be they know and will sort or don't know and are hoping to get away with it.
