Hi to everyone , not been here long and so far loving my L322 4.4 Voque, my second Land Rover , had a Disco few years back.
Now to the problem, it's a 2002 and extremely well looked after, everything works., except on the screen it does not show NAVIGATION, so , have checked everything in rear compartment,and all leades and disc pops in fine etc but nothing on screen to enable Sat Nav. Any ideas before I decide to possibly remove head unit and upgrade it all. Cheers.

Possible a faulty satnav drive does yours say dvd on the front?

Hi, and thanks for reply. No it does not say DVD so I take it it's probably worn out, old like me😆

if it doesn't say DVD then it's a MK3 unit I have one with latest update CD for £125 or you could go for an upgrade and find a MK4 unit around £200 ish without disk

The big question is do you get the Land Rover logo on the screen when you've opened the door before you start the car? Cos if you've never seen this then the Nav unit in the boot isn't working  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Correct. No logo. So I assume it's the disc drive that's no good. Is there much difference on screen between the CD drive and the DVD drive.Cheers.

One more thing, previous owner a few weeks before I got the car had updated the Navigation with a later disc, but on examination it's definitely a copy/burnt disc, he did say it all was fine then about a week before I got it the Navigation dissappeard 🤔

There is probably nothing wrong with the disc, it's the Nav unit that's gone tits up... check for water in the bottom of the wells, especially the wheel well, you might need a new tailgate seal, and quick, before it takes out the stereo and other bits and becomes a 2 day mission to fix (android upgrade, although you would end up with a lot more for less money)  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thanks for info. Had a good look. Not see any damp or water incres but there is a slight white furring on the top off some alloy components which is probably due to condensation 🤔What's your thoughts. And you say Android upgrade, have you a link to where I may check out what's involved and cost. Then I can decide what's best.☺Cheers.

Sometimes it just makes sense! and apart from time you can normally get the outlay back from selling the working old bits  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

big job changing to an android system, maybe cheaper in cost's however much more labour intense

^Only really an issue if your paying someone else to do the job.. As long as you are reasonably good with a soldering iron it's not a difficult job, just time consuming as half the bloody car is in the way  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Unfortunately like most things Range Rover the radio / nav system has been overcomplicated to the n'th degree, not helped by BMW.. There are only 2 fixes, repair / replace what's there or rip the lot out and fit something that actually works (android)... It doesn't have to be an Android system, there are simpler units on the market, it just depends on what you want it to do.. FYI I don't think they have quite got the DAB side of things quite right yet so possibly steer clear of them.

And having done an install in the freezing cold, I reckon that with help it could be done in a day, as I said it's not complicated, just involved.. to get the glovebox out of most cars it's a few screws.. ffrr dash corner. lower footwell trim and panels endless screws, and just when you begin to wonder if there is ever going to be an end to it all, the bloody falls on your head as your looking for missed screws

Having done one, I'd do another, especially with help, the seat weighs a ton But I did manage to lay it on its side without disconnecting it.. this meant that the battery didn't have to be disconnected, and I didn't have to faff about trying to set the clock  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
