When I bought my current car I asked the dealer if they could throw in a factory visit. I was told that might well be possible. I waited for quite a while - nothing, so just organised it myself, £65 from memory. I see there is now a menu one can choose from, some cheaper and others dearer, and covering historic restoration, driving on the off road track etc. as well as the manufacturing facility tour. For the 'money no object' end of the market you can have a 'personal handover experience' where you collect your car from Solihull, costing £1200
I enjoyed the tour, but in some ways the most interesting bit was the Defender production area, as they were still pretty much hand built. The RR/Disco line was much more robotic and the press shop impressive big machinery but rather impersonal. One did not get to the paint shop. While it would have been nice of the dealer to pay for this, in the scheme of things paying for it myself was OK and being in a group of maybe eight with an experienced LR guide who answered questions as well as giving the tour I thought I got value for money. Only Range Rovers since 1988
