FFRR is running great but just noticed the reach adjustment (as opposed to the up down adjuster) on the steering column is not working. The motor spins up when the adjuster level is pushed but column stays where it is. Not had a chance to check it out in RAVE but anyone know if this is common in a 2004 V8? Could be what mine did, the stupid plastic clip that holds the motor in place had broke in half so the motor was just dangling behind the dash.

Quick way of checking, whip either the steering column surround off or the plastic panel in the drivers foot well that the foot well light is attached to, You'll need torx screwdrivers, once they're off, you can see the motors 2006 Mercedes CLS

You can just say access it from under the dash, but it's very tricky, unless you have long skinny girly arms, which I don't |

Yeah, there's 3 in total, I found the only way to get at it was to use 1/4" socket set screwdriver with an extension with the torx bit on the end, normal screwdrivers aren't long enough. 2006 Mercedes CLS

This just happened on mine, must have been the cold in the plastic clip.

Is this yet another example of LRUS offering recalls to customers for free whilst leaving LRUK customers to pay for it themselves:

I've just spent an hour and a bit upside-down in the footwell, my back is killing and I've barely any strength left in my arms. But I've done it. I've cable tied it together and now it works. |
