Oddities when washing

Not had this car long and so only washed it a couple of times so far.

When I spray with a hose (normal domestic hosepipe, not high pressure), the car keeps locking and unlocking itself & especially if I spray near the door handles. Occasionally it also deploys the side steps.

All I can think of to try next time is to make sure I haven't got the car keys with me.

In the meantime has anyone here experienced this with their L405 please? 2016 SDV8 AB

Yes, and you are correct, don't have the keys with you or it will drive you mad. It's also a bit fiddly with deployable side steps fitted because to wash them you need the key and they keep bobbing back in as you wash them.

Yep - key away from the car or it will think you want to unlock

My steps are switched off as I hate the Censored things, but the mirrors are constantly in & out if the key is in my pocket

Yes with jet wash in hand and hose/pipe trailing behind - when the pipe gets snagged under rear bumper the boot opens !!

I just throw the keys into the car when washing, then the car will just stay unlocked and side steps will stay out Easy !

Wish i'd remembered this post before jet washing the car.

Annoying that the mirrors keep folding in/out when washing & having the keys in your pocket, but worse still mid spray the damned boot opened & all the water in the rails dripped in. Once by luck was i rinsing so it was clean water that dripped onto the cream parcel shelf.

I can see how the deployable side steps would be a real pain when washing. Note to self, don't have the keys about my person when washing the car in future. Paul
