United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Mariana Black

Wow - this is exactly what I have with mine at the moment - it essentially reads half of what it should be.

As I don't have topix I can't see the pictures in the links above. Would any one have relevant part numbers and prices for the fix.? Is it a simple inline harness replacement and something that can be done at home.

I assume I can access vis the rear seats access panel and not have to drop tanks etc.?

Thanks in advance Ash

You shouldn't need topix to access that. Just tried the link on my iPhone too - works ok.

It's top access from under the rear seats. I'm just weighing up whether I fancy having a go myself.

Parts are minimal, some crimp connectors but I think the pump and sender unit come out so the service buletin mentions seals, am guessing you'd replace the pump assembly seal when re-fitting.

Once you get access it does look dead simple. Cheers, Greg

Ok - Had a look around - I know how to get to both units but no closer to understanding what might need doing once I get in there.

I spoke briefly to my local indy who suggests it is 4 wires that go into 2 and some plug needs bypassing but does anyone have any pics or diagrams of what to look for and/or change (bypass)

Keen to have a go myself as even my indy wanted to charge me £250 for that. If it just replacing some wire then I'm happy to do that if I know what I need to replace.

Thanks guys Ash

Well don't you just love Land Rover....

I dug a bit deeper this morning as I was a tad bored.

Seats folded up, a few bolts (hex) out and pulled the carpet back to revel the 2 access panels. A few nuts later and these were out revealing the gubbins. I pulled the passenger one out first only to reveal....... nothing in there.

I then pulled the drivers one to and all it had a few pipes and a wire multiple on the back of it. I was expecting to life out float valves and pumps etc but alas not.

This shows the underside of the plate (where I was expecting to find the pump etc). Yu can see the white multiplug towards the back/top.

This was the top of the multiplug

And shining the torch inside the tank you can just see the float valve. It seems to be attached to something in the bottom of the tank (Pump etc I guess) so maybe on my MY2010 the tank has to come out to get to all that stuff..?

So in short - Didn't find what I was expecting so put it all back together again for a rethink.

The up side of all this however.... Turned the car in and the fuel gauge is working again.!!!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Now I'm not saying its a permanent fix but I'm happy for today.! Ash

Hi comports,

Great pix. Better than the tech bulletin. Which is here btw: https://forum.lrch.nl/download/file.php?id...1f0b1a30ad

Looks a little different to yours. The black connector on yours looks like the one they recommend cutting off and replacing. But the assembly in your pix looks different to the diagram in the PDF... And more wires on yours.

Take a look at the pdf - let us know what you think.

I take it there are all immersed in the tank? And is yours a 4.4. or 3.6 ?

I've not got to mine yet.

Ok just found a full diagram - should shed more light. You were only holding the tip of the iceberg! As far as I can tell, the connector you need is at the fuel pump end right at the bottom. Nos. 14-17

 Cheers, Greg

Thank for this - Indeed it was the top of the iceberg....

Fortunately all the jiggling around may have resolved it fora while but I suspect it will fail again in due course.

I also assume from the topix download that ideally the tanks should be almost empty. Mine was half full and the pump, float and all the plugs I need would have been completely submerged.

I wish the topix link was available in english - some of it I could work out but not all.. The white plug it shows being cut I think is the one that clips into the underside of the yellow plastic case in my first image below.

Good find though and one for the future. Ash

No I think it all related to the lower pump...

The Bulletin says ask your customer to bring in car 25% fuel

I have the PDF in english, but I can't see how to upload a PDF to FFRR. PM me and I can send it to you Cheers, Greg

My gauge is starting to become erratic on my 2008 3.6.

Great info. Is the bulletin saying throw the connector and replace with a standard blade connectors or joiners? ______________________________

Hi - yes is says cut off the black connector and replace with connectors. It does say which connectors with a PN. They are immersed in the tank / fuel so pretty sure you could find suitable ones.

Check out the (english) bulletin www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/.../TECHNI...0566v6.doc
...although comports couldn't see the images

 Cheers, Greg

Update on mine - had it back to dealer to sort several items under warranty.

Summary of problem: Tank is 1/4 full but gauge says empty.

Gave indy dealer the service bulletin. Picked it up Wednesday, they said the changed the connectors as per the bulletin. Tank was on 1/4 no no idea at that point if the fix worked.

By today (Saturday) I'm on empty (at least that's what the gauge says).

Lots of fuel low warnings flashing so filled it. That tank got me as you can see 265 miles from the trip. Seems low.

And - sadly only got 82 litres in it as you can see.
(The previous two fills since receipt of the car have been 75 litre fills. Both times gauge saying empty).

Paid my 100 quid and reset the trip. Will see what this brings range-wise. Needle goes to full.

Couple of questions for people:
a)What's typical range for a 2011 4.4 diesel?
b) what's a normal fill in terms of litres once the fuel light comes on?

. Cheers, Greg

I filled my new 08 FF today for the first time since buying it and I noticed two things...
1. Even though the gauge was showing about 1/3 of a tank (had dipped to just below 1/4 on previous drive) it still too 86 litres.
2. I know it's full to the brim yet the gauge showed empty (so too the Range on the computer) until I cornered hard when it showed full before dropping to empty a short time later.

As I can't keep going round left hand corners fast to check my fuel level, does it sound like I have the same issues as others in this thread? I'm guessing a dodgy sender or float on the tank, hence ending up here after a search.

Cheers
FD

I never let mine get below 1/4 tank reading, but from full it is usually showing about 350 - 375 miles on the trip and takes 70-75 litres to brim it again. It usually shows about 29mpg, but goes up to 32mpg if it includes a couple of decent motorway trips over 100 miles. Range when full usually shows just over 500 miles. Hi BB, thx - you are getting good range - 500 miles. And that estimate seems realistic too by the sound of it since you are filling at 25%ish. How many miles has yours done?

FB - check the bulletin I posted - don't think it covers 08's - but it's the first thing I'd look at.
This youtube video shows how to get the the pump & sender unit:
