Views on the LWB

OK, some will know I have had a nightmare with the L405 so it's going back.

Something which has come up on offer is a LWB Autobiography. The general spec is excellent and it's in a colour I like. It's just that it's a LWB.

Would this be less desirable come time to sell? Also, it looks like it could be awkward to park etc.

Opinions please Gents.

IMHO less desirable - along the lines of a BMW 7 series....

They are bought to be driven in, not to drive yourself - so the used market is very sparse.

The only people getting the real benefit of the LWB are the people fortunate enough to be sat in the back. Sou you would be paying a lot of money for other peoples comfort. Especially if it has the recliners in..
Unless you have access to a Jeeves, I'sd stick to the standard wheelbase. Thumbs Up Tony

Personally i do not like the LWB versions. And as BB says if it has those two rear seats its a big no no.

I think the only people that buy a LWB are the people who need one .

They seem very nice. If it's second hand, are you paying much of a premium for the extra length? If not, and you like the car, who cares? I would expect the longer wheelbase would mean very slightly poorer performance in extreme off-road situations. If you aren't going to tackle the Darien Gap, then I think you'll be just fine.

Premium Shocked I'm wondering at what point - and by how much - they are discounted vs the regular model as a used buy Whistle

A friend of mine had one for a good few days whilst his normal AB was in for various fixes. He said it was a nightmare to park. As others have said, if you don't need the extra rear legroom, I'd be looking for something else.

Saw one in Luzern with the business seating (e.g. 4 seats). The sales man said he couldn't shift it.

Sorry to be different, I like them and prefer the dimensions / proportions of the lwb. I think the two captain type chairs would be an issue for me because I'm always dropping the seats to put stuff in but at least you'd get most things in it. The full fat is a big car but if you need to transport a long load there's loads out there better, including swmbo golf.

And in my experience when they come up for sale they are generally expensive (at least the asking price) just look on the LR site.

So the general consensus seems to be steer clear of them unless I plan on becoming a Chauffeur Laughing

It doesn't have the rear executive seats, standard 3 seats, just a lot more legroom, and I mean a LOT !! Could almost have a dancing party on the available floor space.

Like I said, everything else is the colour and spec I want, I'm just a bit nervous of resale value and day to day practicality with parking and tight space manoeuvring. I'm leaning towards leaving it well alone.

That said, I did have a RR Classic 4.2 LSE some years back. Wish I'd never sold it really and it was never an issue day to day. I never noticed the extra length over the standard wheelbase one I had before that.
