Silly Me

I should have known better after many years dealing with Air suspension problems. My 03 front right bag went pop last week so New Strut assy ordered. Looked at the N/S front and looked ok to me, quick soap spray and all good so only need the one. New RH strut arrives today, with the aid of my trusty 12v ebay rattle gun the old strut is off in 15mins. Not sure what went on next but a loud pop and the left rear suspension collapses and the car jerks over to Port, all whilst me head is in the RHF wheel arch Shocked . A lesson to all to have sturdy axle stands under the car which of course I did so no damage just a fright. New Strut on, wheel on, Start the car and await the majestic rising, not a lot of rising... As I said I should have known better, on investigation the left front airbag has burst through the cracks so now I will have to wait another week for a new l/h Strut as the hole is gaping.
On a slightly positive note I thought my airsprings had been changed in the past but the label on the old Delph strut shows a date of 2002. They have lasted very well. The top bearings are pretty knackered though so lesson learnt, replace in pairs. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Australia

I replaced the RH Front on 23rd Dec.

The LH failed on Xmas Eve. Whilst fitting the replacement, the already replaced RH failed. It lasted a day. My ability to buy faulty goods continues. Ron B. VK2OTC

Where did you source yours, I found a new mob that ship from Sydney, A$253 for RH, $$244 LH inc Tracked shipping via Toll. They say Re manufactured on the website, card in the box says new. They look shiny new to me with no imperfections on the strut,, new nuts and air seal o ring. 2 year warranty no doubt from China. It says on the attached blurb " 100% brand new, not a used, rebuilt or junkyard part! Tested to exceed OEM Spec. so must be true Laughing Not bad for Australia, I normally get stuff shipped from the UK. Now the week wait for the road journey over.
Which bit failed on the new? I am reassured we can both get the same result by changing one side only. 2007 TDV8 VSE
