Insurance Recommendations??

I'm sure this question's been asked many times, but a search didn't present anything useful so thought i'd best check.

Had one of those frustrating calls with my current Insurer (Hastings Direct) & they're unable to do a change of vehicle from the F10 M5 as have a value limit of £75k. They tried a couple of other Underwriters, but still no joy so they're cancelling my M5 Policy from 28th Feb & thus i'll need a fresh new policy for the FFRR. What was refreshing is as they were unable to offer a quote for the FFRR, they've waived the policy cancellation fee & will refund me in full the unused portion of the M5 policy.

Now this brings up the need for me to hunt down insurance for the new car & thought given it's somewhat of a more specialist vehicle & more so given the value i'd ask on here for recommendations??

I've been lucky to date in that even for performance cars such as the M5 & GT-R, i've never due to a good driving record, decent postcode, no claims & Max NCB paid more than £500 per annum for Class 1 Business Use with 15k pa mileage. I'm hoping the FFRR isn't going to be a great deal more but accept given the higher value it's bound to be an increase on my current cost.

Try the NFU. I am with them and they don't even demand a tracker

Thanks, i'll give them a go.

Have been somewhat surprised so far with the usual rodent & fat opera singer comparison sites. Best so far is just over £1k which is somewhat frustrating given my F10 M5 costs just over £400 to insure. I can accept the FFRR may be a touch more desirable to the undesirables, but one's a 750bhp £75k Saloon car (without Tracker) & the other a 260bhp £95k SUV (with Tracker).

Hard to see how it can be over twice as much to insure.

I gave A-Plan a go & they've come in at £840 with an underwriter i've never heard of but am told is a premium insurer for FFRR's & looks likely where i'll spend this months 'other' car tax.

Thanks for the heads up.

Never ever tried NFU Mutual but gave them a call & have decided to place my business with them. They didn't come back cheaper than A-Plan but got (after haggling) within £60 so a total premium of £902, but the benefits seem to more than cover than & as a bonus they don't charge anything to take the premium monthly (must be the only Insurer not to charge an extortionate APR).

One of the key benefits was new for old for 2 years which using simple man maths gives me 2yrs GAP insurance for nothing. If the car's a total loss during the first 2 years they'll either replace the car with the exact same model/spec or pay out the equivalent purchase price which i guess the same in GAP premiums would be at least £250.

They also offer Multi Car so i'll look to add the wife's Volvo XC60 when that comes up for renewal which would offer up a further 11% premium discount.
