4.2 S/C

Thinking of buying a RR 4.2 S/C 2009 this would be my first RR, and i'm just looking for abit of weekend fun/comfort as i have another car to munch my motorway miles, Is this still a great car in 2017? i'm going to test drive one next weekend but looking for some opinions as the missus is questioning buying such a old vehicle.

Welcome.

Firstly, do a search on here to find out what's already been posted. That'll give you a decent view across the years.

Secondly, yes, they're still fabulous in 2017. A 2009 model isn't really 'old', but I suppose that depends what you're used to. Si. <This is my name.

A 4.2 sc is a great choice you will love it. 2009 is not old for a Range Rover just take your time and get a good one.You say for weekend use yes we all said that but once you have one you will look for any excuse to drive it. Expect about 13mpg round town and 20ish on motorway. PS the fun bit is in your right foot Very Happy The worst thing about being retired is you miss out on all the bank holidays

Was intending to today, went to see some of them wasn't impressed Sad seems there are a few pigs out there, dents in every panel, 4 different tyres, no evidence of proper maintanance. hopefully i'll find my beast!

Would be useful for those able to offer advice if you were able to indicate your potential budget for an SC.

What sort of milage would you say is too much for one of these though? i understand that if it's been looked after then milage isn't really a huge problem, but 200k on this drivetrain?

Cliff's Unofficial L322 Range Rover Buyer's Guide concludes the 4.2sc is the best combination and is still an excellent car today. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cliffs-Unofficial...01MFDOQ7H/ OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog

You will find a nice one if you want one and you won't be disappointed. Superb!

Ours was truly immaculate... And an irreparable liability because of erroneous maintenance claims by main dealers.... And we persevered because it was so immaculate and because on paper the history appeared so good.

It was a one off for sure! but not one to be put off Range Rovers by... Check and check again and you will find a good one Thumbs Up

As has been said keep looking there are some out there that have been immaculately looked after mine has done 140k and drives perfect looks new and the interior shows no wear it was good when I bout it at 60 odd k miles but I have put new bushes all round also new airbags and shocks control arms etc all down to wear and tear - be prepared to spend a few quid on repairs and be prepared for things to be worn and you can have a fantastic car for not a lot
