Thanks, that's all the information i needed & has confirmed that although no doubt better, the Signature system is unlikely to be worth the £4k premium over the 825w system so i'm removing it from my spec (that will cover quite a few tanks of fuel). |

On an L405 that would indicate the 825w. The option above that would read PREMIUM ICE 1400w. The base would read "BRANDED SURROUND SOUND SYS(L3)". On L320 and some L322 (L4) would be the HKL7 and 2011+ would read Premium ICE 1200w. https://instagram.com/_.iconoclast/ |

Hi Emperor; You strike me as someone who has very lovely clothes that even I coulld actually see and you seem to speak a lot of sense too. The only noticeable difference to me and I'm far from an expert is that when playing some of my tunes loudly that the signature reference system required the input on the dial ( the loud pedal) to be a bit less than the standard 825W model but that said it very rarely got to half the max on the standard hifi |

I've got the 825w system which is. Quantum leap over the basic 380w standard. That jump is well worth making.

Other Marques team up with the manufacturer and build around the interior design to create the best possible listening environment while on newer cars the audio company works with the designers from jump street instead of trying to fit better speakers into existing holes and ports. Audi's B&O was the first to do this and the team spent over 4000 hours designing and testing the system before it was released... fast forward to a decade later and Bowers & Wilkins took it further by working directly with the design team to build around the areas the audio team felt were the best placement for optimal audio with the least amount of NVH to compromise the system. While to some this may not be an option to consider but for me it is. It is the most important interior option. While I may not utilize 510hp 100% of the time I will use the Audio in the vehicle every time I am in it... so even though I may only push the vehicle to it's potential 10% of the time I still purchased a high performance high output to enjoy it when I can, same with the audio... I purchased it because I truly appreciate quality audio and I grew up around high end audio because my father was a recording engineer. I would not cut corners on this option. If a premium system is available I buy it and for anyone else who does as well... Avoid MP3 and satellite radio... CD and FLAC will provide the best audio. https://instagram.com/_.iconoclast/ |

I just bought an Autobiography (MY 2015) that has the 1700w system fitted and all I can say is "WOW." It reminds me a little of my not cheap Bose headphones that I bought a few months ago and I hear backing sounds in my music that I have never heard before, the clarity and range is amazing. I would never have spent the £4,000 or so on the upgrade but feel lucky that it has this fitted as standard.

If I read this right the sound system in my MY2010 AB is different to what I had in my 2007 Vogue - I've got to say it doesn't sound any different to me - then again DAB doesn't sound any different to FM.

That's not strictly true Geoff. There are many ways of achieving exceptional sound quality in a car and I have won silverware in the past for exactly this back in the 90's when the standard car audio was a radio cassette and 2 speakers. I put 17 speakers into a Poxhaull Astra in 1992 to achieve a 1st place at Sound-Off. A Nakamichi front end with Soundstream amplifiers (class A) and a home built set of active crossovers with level controls for all 17 channels.

just a thought, if you have the bestest ever audio equipment in the FF, wouldn't it be compromised by the engine and tyre road noise ... |

No. On vehicles with a VNC device integrated into the audio system it would compensate for the exterior noise factor. H/K has HaloSonic RNC (Road Noise Cancelling). Each brand has their own version.
