255/55R20 on a 2008 SC L322?

Found a nice set of barely used 255/55/R20 at a good price, but my 20in L322 (2008 SC) has 255/50R20 mounted.
Found a few folks who say they might rub, but nobody who's actually tried them.
Anybody have real-world experience with this size? Rolling Eyes 2008 SC L322

I have 265/60/18s which are bigger, and they don't rub. 275/55/20 will unless lifted I believe. ______________________________

By my calculations:

255/50/20 = 30.039" diameter
255/55/20 = 31.043" diameter

265/60/18 = 30.520" diameter
275/55/20 = 31.909" diameter

So it looks like your 18's are about 0.5" larger than what I've got but still 0.4" less than what I'm looking at.

And what I'm looking at is only 0.5" smaller than one which is apparently known to rub.

I think that helps me decide better not to risk it, thanks! Mr. Green 2008 SC L322

Thank Censored you found this site, where you will at least get very good and correct advice Thumbs Up

If your standard 255/50R20's aren't showing at least a couple of inches clearance in the wheel arch then you probably have an issue with your air suspension Whistle 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Suspension works fine, room around the arch looks plentiful, I'd just been worried about bits touching on the inside of the well when the wheels were turned hard, but sounds like that's not a problem, woohoo! Thanks all! Thumbs Up 2008 SC L322

Quite a few of the folks on here have started running the as they are an increasingly common size from the l405. Not heard any issues as yet. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I removed my 255/50/20s for 255/55/20s the new tyres were from an L405.

It rides perfectly. If I remember correctly the speedo is now completely synced with GPS speed.

The extra tyre profile is an additional 5% of 255mm. They won't rub! Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

Sorry to hijack but those that have fitted them do you notice a difference in the handling it is just that I run 19 on 255 55 for winter and compared to summers on 20 255.50 it feels less firm
Interested as my summers have less than 4mm so will change for new tyres in spring

@Sandyt - took awhile but I finally got around to getting them fitted. First thing I noticed was the 2.5cm height difference is definitely noticeable, "riding taller". (Maybe more like 3cm for how bald the old ones were!)

Ride-wise, for the most part it just sounds and feels like the difference between somebody drumming on a table covered in one layer of felt vs 1.5 layers, i.e. noticeable, but not exciting.

However, there's been a nasty pot-hole developing on my drive to work and while I usually miss it traffic conspires once in awhile to run me right across it. With the old 50cm wheels it was quite a bang, (and surely the cause of some new nicks in the rim). With the 55s on though it was still a big thump, but nowhere near as "sharp". HTH, YMMV etc. 2008 SC L322

As long as other conditions (weight, distribution, road surface, contact patch) aren't changing, you'll most likely want run exactly the same. 2008 SC L322
