I have a 57 plate TDV8 Vogue SE and I have found that the TMC does not work as well as it did on my Discovery. I find that I have to retune the Satnav to Classic FM everytime I get into the car if I want to stand a chance of this very useful function working, furthermore I have found that it will not hold 'lock' for more than about 30mins at which point I have to retune. This is a bore on long journeys when the TMC can be very helpful in avoiding traffic jams.

I am being told by the dealer from whom I bought the car that this is normal, I would very much like to hear other people's views on this, do you all have this issue??

TMC in london can be in the RR dont ask me why it just is and yes the D3 was wny better however I dont rely on it as I find it largely out of date

I have a 08 plate vogue SE and yeas i also have problems with tmc. When I try and retune it I always find its tuned in to my local independent station. It seems to need a very strong signal to find Classic FM. I previously had a D3 which was considerably better and only had occasional losses.
My son has an Audi A4 with TMC and never has any problem with his in the same area.

TMC is a great concept - and in countries that are more efficient at these things (like Germany) it works very well indeed.
Our issue is that the traffic wombles don't even update the roadside highway signage in a timely manner -so they end up being largely ignored.
Good, fast, accurate signage but only used where really necessary - and rigorously enforced is well respected and tolerated by road users. It means better traffic flow, and safer roads.

Make that same signage slow, inaccurate and poor - and you get exactly what you would expect... poor /zero compliance and more accidents...

Most UK TMC data is derived from the Highways Agency control rooms- which provide the same data to the roadside signs and since they're staffed largely by bacon butty eating lard-ar who wouldn't know one end of a torque wrench to another - it's almost hopeless.

I leave my TMC on- but only treat it as 'advisory'.
I too have the 're-tuning' issue -but just let it do its own thing.

Yup, TMC works fine, and is awsome. I go up and down the country a couple of times a month, I dont think I've ever gone the same way twice!

It will give me the option to divery from traffic, accidents, or roadworks. It tells me the type of delay, and the length of elay, along with deails on the new diversion route.

I'm happy as long as I'm still moving, I hate sitting in traffic, so would rather add 15 miles onto a 150 mile trip to save 30 minutes of driving at 30mph in stop start traffic.

I have used it in Central London and found it to be a bit of a nightmare in rush hour, when the whole of London is just one big traffic jam, in the end I turned it off, because the traffic conditions change so quickly.

Mine works too but I don't trust it as much as I don't trust the Matrix signs, they are always showing out of date information, especially the lane closures where everyone knee jerks into the inside lane leaving the outside lane completely free for me to bomb past in my own special lane!

You can upgrade the Radio module in the trunk with the newer BM54 Radio module as there were some improvements in the newer TMC radios.

In addition as an added bonus you also will get support for Auxiliary input by upgrading the radio module
