Experience AJ8 engine NA 4.4

Hello

Someone knows the reliability of the normally aspirated AJ8 jag engine which replaced the BMW m62. There is currently one for sale. Facelift grille, but old interior with newer sat nav. As i understand the 6 speed zf box is much better than the 5 speed coupled to the BMW engine.

The rest of the stuff I am not that worried about.

Sounds good!

They are generally preferred to the previous version as the gearbox is better. Difficult to convert to lpg tho due to liners/lube requirement.

I have one and love it. It has so much power I've never wished for a SC, very smooth, almost silent. Remarkably good fuel economy on the motorway or rural driving (stop and go in town is poorer).
By reading indicates one of the better engine options for the L322.

I've rarely heard a bad word said against them.....Being picky, a slight lack of low down torque but reliability-wise they seem to be spot on. 2006 4.2 SC

In researching for my l322 range rover buyers guide I found that the 4.4 and 4.2 jaguar ajv8 are perhaps the best most reliable engines fitted to a Range Rover. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cliffs-Unofficial...01MFDOQ7H/

Thanks for all replies. Unfortunately the car was sold before I was able to even look at it.

Anyways, all response underline the fact that the Jag powered engines are the most reliable ones. In the meantime I will enjoy the least reliable Rangie..... my P38 4.6....

I have a soft spot for the 4.6 p38. Great car and i would not rank it lowest ib reliability. It does have a non interference engine.

The sc 4.2 with lockers just feels a bit more capable on and off road but the p38 is a fantastic choice too! OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog
