[Wanted] (Unusual) Yellow lab dog to make some puppies!

Not the usual kind of wanted ad but it has been given the go ahead by Martin.

Short version - I'm after a yellow lab (not a cross please) with operational tackle so that I can get a litter out of Lyra, my yellow lab bitch. Soon, as she's just come into season again so only have a few weeks (my fault but been busy work wise and haven't looked around as early as I should have).

Longer version: Lyra is 3rd generation in our family, the grandmother (Sandy) came from Fife (from a very long line of excellent - it was mentioned best in Scotland - working dogs) as we could not find one in Wales at the time. We bred from her and were always going to keep one of the bitches (Rosie), ended up keeping one of the dogs because Dad fell in love with him (Tundra) and happened to be the last one left at the end. Since both generations had been so great as family / pets / workers we wanted to keep the line going. Since I bought my own place then we bred from Rosie (the daughter) and I got Lyra (the granddaughter).

Sandy the grandmother is now thirteen and still going strong (especially if she smells a fox) but in the last year she's feeling her age. So I would like to get at least one litter out of Lyra so that Mum & Dad can have one of the pups to replace Sandy when she finally passes. I'm half tempted to keep another one as well... Whistle

The issue - Lyra's turned out to be a 12 month (she's 2.5 years old now) cycle dog and this one has arrived a bit earlier in the year the than last. This morning was the first time that I've noticed the blood so don't have much time left whilst she's viable (few weeks at most probably) unfortunately as this season snuck up on me.

Given the short notice & time of year I'm happy to travel around although closer to the Surrey (or will be back in Pembrokeshire over Christmas but not New Year) is more preferable.

I should point out I'm not interested in making a profit off the pups, would like to make a little to cover costs but the main reason for this is to keep our line going. If wanted Mum can provide the pedigree of the grandmother and all fathers of the respective dogs. Mum would ideally like a "chunky" male as ours are from old working lines and consequently the bitches are quite small and very lean for labs. At this moment though given the lack of success asking around at shoots etc., I'd settle for a yellow, male, lab with working tackle!

So can anyone help out? If so drop me a PM and we can discuss further.

(At Martin's suggestion I'm going to post this across defender2, disco3 and fullfatrr.com).

Now some photos:
Lyra is front right - when she was younger, Sandy (grandmother) back right, Rosie (mother) lying down back left, Tundra (uncle) front left.

Many thanks - and of course should puppies happen then plenty of photos can be uploaded Thumbs Up Ed

I have an 8 year old yellow Labrador Retriever 'puppy' who is in full working order, his mother was pedigree but his father wasn't, as the breeder, who was a grounds man wanted to revert to a thicker head. Never thought about breeding him, as he is our family pet, but could be interested if it helps.[img]

Cheers for the offer - ironically it looks like I might have found one from a shooting buddy of mine. I knew he had a yellow lab but thought he was "useless". Turns out he's not, Mum was just going to double check a couple of things with him but, hopefully, things may be sorted.

Will keep people updated. Thumbs Up Ed

Well, a thread resurrection but a season later and she gave birth to a stonking litter. 12 were born on Christmas Eve of which 8 survived, 2 still born.

They're doing extremely well though.
