It's obvious really . . .

. . . . so they can charge you 50% more for that one extra wheel! Twisted Evil

Are you talking e-bay or wheel dealers?

e-bay answer is either a)They came off a RRS, or a FFRR owner who's bought RRS wheels (x4) and kept his spare. b)They were nicked in a car park

Dealer answer is - They're robbing barstewards

cheaper to buy 4 and how often do you need the spare - the old spare will often do unless people are fussy! why pay more for a 5th wheel when its stuck out of sight in the boot for 99.99999% of the time.

In the more common sizes you don;t need a 5th as the 18",19" or 20" standard wheels are the same overall size, so you can still sue your 18" spare even if you upgraded to the LR OEM 20's.

When I had the RRS SC, the spare was a Disco 3 HSE alloy 19" painted in gloss black!

Thanks god I never needed it! Discovery 4 HSE

United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Slightly off topic, but in a similar vein:

A mate of mine used to work for Rover in the 90's. One of his colleagues won a new Rover 220 Tomcat for a suggestion he made that saved Rover £££££'s.

His suggestion? Stop supplying an alloy wheel as a spare, then every 5th car down the production line effectively gets a free set of alloy wheels.
Now you know why there's a black steel rim in the boot! 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
