2002 TD6. Hit the button for the demist programme this morning and everything worked as advertised

Has no one come across this before? Have i discovered a new and unique fault?

To conclude this for anyone who has a similar issue in the future, I've no idea what caused the fault but it was cured by replacing the heater control panel.
