Hi all,

My PDC system has gone rather haywire. As soon as I stick it in reverse the rear PDC just emits a continuous beep. It may last for 5 seconds, or it may last until I either hit the PDC switch to turn it off, or get over the 20mph auto switch off.

If it does stop beeping, and I'm reversing, the rear PDC does seem to work. The front PDC also works, although it has to fight to get a word in edgeways past the rear one!

The light on the button doesn't flash to indicate an error or anything.

I've checked each sensor and they are all clicking away merrily. I'm thinking that it's likely the rear loom - anyone else had the same issue?

I have literally exactly the same symptoms as you.
Some days the system works perfectly, as earlier today and other days it just whines.
I've come to the conclusion it's a wiring fault be it dodgy loom or simply corrosion in the PDC connectors all of which click when they are supposed to.
To me I have decided I can live with it until the warmer weather when I will sort it.
One point, if you have towbar electrics you can plug in a trailer or caravan etc which will isolate the rear PDC sensors and therefore determine whether the fault is at the back or the front.
Second point, have any of the sensors got bubbling paint, if so clean off until the surface of the sensor is flat and see if things improve. The bubbling paint can cause a false signal.i

Good point - thinking about it, when I hook up the trailer I don't remember the beep kicking in.

On cold mornings it can be just the exhaust gases causing it. Don't quite understand it, but it certainly seems to be that on all three of my ffrrs over the years. Just as we can see the gases on cold days maybe it sets of rear pdcs too
