John,

The seals either side of the rear upper tailgate glass are a weak point and I think they are bonded to the glass and need to be renewed by a garage.

Might be worth asking others on here their opinions but this is what I've heard and a common source for water ingress.

The black strips on sides of glass on exterior don't provide any seal, think they were a later addition to stop water running off edge & dripping on interior when tailgate was opened.
Several have had issues with these corroding & expanding so some remove them but I think they may get replaced under warranty.

The tailgate seal on body compresses & can cause leaks. 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

after reading through various topics on this forum I thought I would start by replacing the seal as it seems the inner metal part of the seal near the upper tail gate hinges has lifted and allowing water in. have checked the window seals and it all seems dry in that area. will run hose on upper tailgate tonight to check if it is this seal. thanks for the help. john

Hi Dan. thanks for that. Cleared leaf and other debris from around top of seal and left hose running on it for 5 mins this lunch time, guess what no leak! will check this evening to see if capillary action has caused it to leak. keep you posted. John
