The mirrors on my 53 plate have about had there day and I may have the chance of having a pair from an 06 l322 would these just be plug and play or will I have to modify the wiring?

to fit the later mirrors you need to swap the door modules with the later type too

By door modules do you mean the bit on the door card the wires plug into?
