Just cleaned my range rover and can see the swirl marks\scratches coming back, only buffed it 4-5 months ago. I use the two bucket method and a wool mit but today it was so filthy as soon as i touch it i must be adding scratches. Also wondering if when i buffed it i just masked some of the scratches and now the wax is fading thus there showing again.

I think as soon as you touch the car, the swirl marks appear - modern paint is that soft. Two buckets, grit traps and sheepskin Mitsubishi only reduce the damage and prolong the period before you need to buff again.

One thing that helps in these times is a snow lance. I usually do two applications at this time of the year. If you have a good coat of wax on, most of the crud will drop off, so you are then cleaning an almost dirt-free car.

Black car needs a lot of love! Wash with plenty of clean water then polish ,and or wax monthly.

+1 for snow lance.

I waxed with fk1000p and now I can do a 95% touchless wash.

Pressure wash, then foam & spray wheel brite gel then pressure wash down again.

Pretty good for winter.

Think i need to google this this snow lance stuff.

To be honest this time of year i want a quick easy wash that cleans the salt off and adds no damage, not worried about finish, few streaks etc. Ill spend some time and get her looking good again in spring. 2004 black Vogue TD6

To get rid of swirls you have to cut the paint, ideally you'd only want to polish twice a year really. I generally do a hard polish when I buy the car, followed by a couple of coats of wax. Then every 6 months do a light polish and another wax.

Then weekly I use Autoglym Aquawax, great on dark/black cars.

The result of all this is that barely any dirt sticks to the car, so a very light passover with a lambswook mitt is all that is needed.

It is a full days hard work, but then you only have to do it twice a year. If you find it that tedious you can pay a detailer to do it for you.

yea, think ill just have to give it another quick polish in spring, its the first time i have done it and was hard work so hoping it would be a once a year job..
