bush querie..

Second post today but this ones warrented and definitely not my rover phobia .. Laughing

Heading out to pick up my good lady jumps in car and whilst waiting on it demisting I select off road height as i like to keep things moving and working..car then starts groaning and jerking whilst lifting..appears to be the passenger side (front) after a short time it eventually reached height..now lowering the car and it takes an age?..eventually gets to normal height and it now refuses to go into access height...leaves it 5 minutes and it reluctantly lowers...now the whole process is taking a while..i presume due to overusing it and the pressure needs to build back up..my main concern was the refusal to lower..could that be a height sensor getting ready to give up? No fault codes(yet)...the groaning concerned me more tbh..cars now slowly going about its business.

My experience with older cars has been that the air suspension takes a while after starting to get itself to correct operating level and there can be a bit of wheezing. Making it go straight to off road level adds to the effort. I wouldn't regard that as a sign that a sensor is about to go and would just wait with shifting levels until the car is more warmed up, unless you have no alternative. Only Range Rovers since 1988

It was fine this morning! Compressor and reservoir sensor are new..front struts also within the past year so I was a bit surprised! I think your spot on tbh..i left it a while and it lifted...not sure where the groaning came from? The refusal to go into access mode as well is worrying although it worked fine earlier...maybe stressed her out and its spat the dummy out like they do.. Thumbs Up

Hmm, sluggish operation and noises seem normal to me, but complete refusal to lower would require further investigation. I wonder whether something has happened when the new compressor was installed? Perhaps get a diagnostic test? Only Range Rovers since 1988

Its only refused to drop once last night..first time its happened! Before that when it was raising the car it started hesitating and jerking ..
compressors new but I've been running it without any issue for about 2 months.. I've checked for faults on my machine and there's nothing..data streams aren't showing anything worth checking.. Strange one but I feel somethings ready to go. Its worked great today..

This is normal if you have your foot on the brake, as the car rises and falls the wheels pass through an arc, this changes the steering and suspension geometry and causes the wheels to move relative to the ground, if you have your foot on the brake the wheels can't move so you are forcing against the bushes and they creak.... don't do it too often, best thing is to leave it in Park with the handbrake off when doing height changes, the small amount of give in the parking pawl will allow them to move enough... Thumbs Up

Oh, and stop worrying, accept the fact that it WILL go wrong and WILL need fixing, usually at the worst time, and try to enjoy the ownership experience... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete
