I do wish you British would just say the model year, not the indecipherable (to us foreigners) 56 or 57 plate.

1st digit = which half of the year - confusingly either the 1st half (March to August) or 2nd half (September to February)
The a 0 is March to August for 01 to 09 and a 1 for 2010 to now.
a 5 is 2nd half for 01 to 09 and a 6 for 2010 to now

2nd digit is the year, so a 7 is 2007, 8 is 2008 etc. Oh and a 6 is 2006, or 2016 depending on the 1st digit.

So you could have 2 near identical cars, both on something like a 59 plate where one is registered September 1st 2009 and the other is registered January 1st 2010. Basically it tells you the registration date within a 6 month period.

I mean, how hard is that to understand Question Rolling with laughter

Sounds like my mpg is particularly low then!

It's definitely not a sticking caliper and there are no fault codes etc so is there anything else I could check to see if it's causing a problem! Would need to be something fairly big to loose 7 mpg on average.

Try a few bottles of Miller's diesel treatment to give things a clear out...along with an Italian tune-up...before doing anything else.

Bow down I figured out the nice, simple letter suffix/prefix system and then they go and change it! Evil or Very Mad
