Keyless entry story.

My daughter gave birth to a baby boy at 1.00am today.
Both mum and baby were fine so she was discharged at 5.30am.
My son in law carefully strapped the baby carrier into his 16 reg VW. but put the car keys down whilst doing it.
He closed the door, walked round the car, and before he could open the other door to let my daughter in.
The mirrors folded, and clunk, the central locking operated.
Mum and dad outside the car, 4 hour old baby locked in car,

I am never going to put my keys down in my car ever again.
Conclusion,
Fire extinguisher through window to release locking.

Shocked horrible story, must have been a huge shock

I personally see no need whatsoever for keyless technology - it's really not that much of an effort to place a key in the dash and given the potential for problems, I'd rather have an old fashioned key

Congratulations on the new arrival Thumbs Up 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

It shouldn't do that. The proximity of the keys should keep it open.

Also where cars re lock themselves after unlocking, opening a door should deactivate this too. Terrible story though, but I would be getting VW to pick up the bill!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

my missus has a Nissan qasquai with keyless entry and start. it won't allow you to lock the car with the key inside. I know this because she lost the original key and the car wouldn't lock with the spare (just got a bleep but doors stayed unlocked) so after a few hours of looking around Rolling Eyes we eventually found the key buried down the side of the seat. As soon as it was removed the car locked/unlocked with either key Thumbs Up Paul

VW's will lock themselves if drivers door is not opened first or at all. I used to work for VW and it was quite a common occurrence on vans when owners used to go into the back and say how it locked itself again once the tailgate was shut

cheers and congratulations Smile Alex

Thanks for that info.

I will pass it on,
They have only just recovered from the trauma, but good news is at 3months old now, my grandson is a real bundle of fun, and has just started sleeping through the nights.

Rather than the FFRR, this week I've been using my petrol Discovery 1. Ignition uses a key. The door uses a key. No big deal! It's a fine system. Glad to hear baby & family are fine.
