Hi all, wondering if anyone has any buying advice; I've got max £23k and I narrowed that down to the following basic search spec:
• 2010 / 4.4 L (or 2011)
• Flexible on exterior colour but needs to have a cream interior
• max milage 75000

But What does anyone think about 3.6 vs 4.4? Of course the 4.4 has the knob 8 speed transmission. But that's about the big difference I can see.

Given this, I think my main question is on milage:
For my budget, am I better to try to find a circa 50k mile 2009 3.6?
or get a higher milage 2010/2011 4.4?

Any thoughts on above would be appreciated.

OK, it depends on your interpretation of the word "Only".

Only a different engine and box. The 4.4 diesel is a gross improvement over the 3.6. I've had both and would take the 4.4 now every time.

The 8 speed box only has 2 extra gears right, except is is silky smooth and another vast improvement.

So, what sort of mileage difference are you looking at if you sacrifice those minor improvements? 30k? 40k? On a car which will easily get to 200k miles I would say it's far better to get the newer car.

That also takes no account of the Brembo brakes on the 4.4. The 09 cars had wooden brakes - search for this. Digital dash, nicer back lights and cosmetic upgrades. Honestly? It's a no-brainer.

as Above, having had both a 3.6 and a 4.4, the newer drivetrain is a big improvement over the 3.6. The 8speed is much more refined and smooth. The engine is much more powerful, and difference in straightline performance is marked.

The 09-> 3.6 also did not have a proper Brembo braking set up. The 06-09 had four pot calipers and the 4.4 has 6 pot calipers but the 09 face lifted 3.6 had a TRW set up which while it stops the car is not as good as the brembo setups on either of the other cars.

If the budget can find a 65-75K 4.4 I would take this over a 50k 3.6 every time.  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

i agree 23 is a low budget for a 4.4, there are some out there but it will be an early one and out of warranty. In which case it will be important that a few fixes are done, namely then turbo oil drain modification. If this hasn't been done, and the car starts to smoke it is a £1000 bill roughly to do the mod. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

mzplcg - yes 'only' was perhaps the wrong word. Just wading through the year by year differences from 2007, so many incremental changes over the years...

Any chance you could post up a list of the incremental changes year by year? It might help other potential buyers. ______________________________

So I've decided to try to get a late 2010 or early 2011 4.4TDV8 with as best spec, lowest mileage I can for my budget. Can't wait!

But still trying to get my head around what is and what isn't included on a 2011MY.

This isn't a comprehensive list, but some are musts on my shopping list.
I've trawled through various posts here and so far I've got this table:

There are 2 types of rear climate.... one with 2 dials and one with 3.... the 3 can do individual temp zones like the front.

Think the big stereo is option unless ab....

My vse has rear entertainment but no adaptive lights for cornering or high beam assist or the cameras.... does have dual view screen in front though.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
