Good news and Bad - No Service Indicator

Had the car MOT'd today - all went well and it passed with no problems.

I gave the dealer a list of things I wanted doing (the service manager lives in my street - bonus)

Came home tonight and he gave me the run down:

Speed locking, single point entry and auto locking all switched on - Thumbs Up

New heated washers jets - sorted Thumbs Up

Sat Nav can now have destination entry whilst moving, but, it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS to download the software/firmware which meant he had to stay at work til 6:30 til it had finished - WTF?

My car tied up a testbook up for pretty much the entire afternoon as they couldn't work out why the Service Indicator wasn't displaying - it's still not fixed so I may have to call the big guns in at LR.

What i expected to be a very quick tick of a box turned out in to an entire afternoon, surely that's not right. If I didn't know him I would be seriously Censored off if I recieved a bill for 4 hours labour for that.

And to top it all off, the FBH is FUBAR Big Cry - I hope to god its covered under warranty. how much is a new one?

So mixed emotions. If anyone knows how to fix the service indicator it would be much appreciated...

S

My vehicle was in for an entire day having the key options and Nav on the move enabled. It took them over 6 hours to load everything correctly as they ended up loading every option back to the car individually.

They said that it seemed to be an issue with the T4/IDS kit not working correctly and they had to revert back to an older system software to enable the car and computer to speak.

Nav on the move is a little pain in the Censored if you are using an alternatively sourced nav disc as some of the firmware files required aren't alway included on the downloaded disc image file.

I think that LR are forgetting that there are alot of older cars and not everybody is driving around in 10/11MY cars. They need to ensure their T4/IDS kit is able to be used on every car that comes in otherwise it is just an expensive chock to stop the car rolling across the workshop... 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior

when i upgraded to the latest 2009/10 disc the firmware was upgraded as well and i lost 'nav on the go' which at the time pi**ed me of, but not having it for a while now i dont miss that much ..most of my destinations are on the 'recent destination' list which can be accessed whilst moving.. ... - .- -.

Well, I have a degree of empathy , though my issue was far simpler... apparently the newer kit that my local dealer uses to reset the service milage doesn't work on my car (2003) AND would you believe it the "Insert job description of choice here" didn't know how to reset it manually on the cars binacle which I learned how to do on here!

So if the kit doesn't work and the "Insert job description of choice here"'s don't know how to do stuff then its no shock that it takes so long to sort these issues.

Amazing how I can wire up an Resler interface and tweak settings on my car in a couple of hours that dealers said couldn't be done in the past Banging Head

I don't give them as much credit these days, but to be fair these are tweaks that not every customer is going to request and most of the employees are not "technicians". I'd imagine that 2/3rds of the time was actually spent rubbing their chins. Rolling Eyes 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Yeah, he said it started up fine, ticked the box, it downloaded a couple of files quite quickly then opened a new window saying Downloading Files: Time Left 56 minutes. It then proceeded to take 2.5 hours.

It tied up the testbook but he used the time to do other stuff. I certainly do owe him a drink (but only once I've seen the bill Mr. Green )

The master technician had queried if it had the latest DVD but it does. It must just be one hell of a large file or a very slow connection.....

Haven't had time to get on to RR yet about the service indicator and I notice that I don't get a seat belt warning if I drive off without out it on. I might have run through the fuses at the weekend just to be sure.

Even the other "tick boxes" for the locking etc took a while to activate, iirc it was about 20mins. I must ask him to see if there were any error codes, I've been away for a few days so haven't had a chance to catch up with him properly.
