Rolling Screen?

My 2004 TD6 Vogue has a rolling Screen and it has been to two Land Rover specialists and neither have fixed it.

It was completely blank when it went to Cowley & Co in Milton Keynes and they said the nav unit had got wet and substituted the nav and Entertaiment System Module YIL000022 with another vehicle they had on site but it still did not work so checked the wiring without success and gave up.

The second was EH Douglas at Wardington near Banbury who also said the nav and possibly the Entertainment module were water damaged. They said the wiring had been messed around with and fixed that getting the screen to light up and the radio to work with a fuzzy screen. I took the car back with the nav unit out and have now replaced the nav unit and Entertainment module and the radio still works but the screen now roles and cannot be used properly.

What can I try next?

You say that the Nav unit has been checked. By that I assume the unit in the boot. I would suggest the next stage is to access the head unit to check the connections there.

I may have misunderstood what you meant? John

The rear wiring has been checked and the sat nav DVD has been substituted with one from a working car and now I have replaced it with a s/h unit reputed to have been checked.

Can the head unit make the display roll?

Shocked Hard to be sure what they did then......

If 2 'specialists' have failed with the car in front of them, it's going to be hard to advise remotely....

It's a process of elimination - so unless you have access to a good car - and can swap your components into that one, one at a time, to prove they all work, I can't offer a better solution.

Therefore, I agree with Weegie - if you're happy that all the units in the boot area are good and all the connections are firmly in place, then you will have to tackle the head unit itself as there isn't really anything else to try.....

It had a new battery while at Cowley and Co and a new battery lead while at EH Douglas.
