Hello team.
I have had a long term problem with the instruments randomly failing. Usually first thing they would work then slowly stsrt flickering and then die.
I finally sourced a previously enjoyed replacement.
Fitted this morning but the replacement instruments show a air suspension fail message with the traction control and abs lights staying on. If I put the old instruments back in and reset everything (wheel lock to lock etc) all is fine.
Battery was disconnected while I replced the instruments. And
I have disconnected it again just in case. I might have access to a code reader in the week and the car drives fine.
Any ideas

Yes you get a dot by the milage but not bothered about that.
I thought I had seen on a previous thread the instruments were plug and play subject to the correct part number? Mine was a blue one!

Hi,

You can get rid of the tamper dot by using PA Soft 1.40 its about £20 on eBay. My instruments were faulty as the previous owner had tinkered with them so I swapped them for a used one.

I got the tamper dot straight away because the LCM and another ECU I can't remember which checks the VIN on the instruments and when they don't match it throws up the tamper dot.

When you use PA Soft you can delete the old VIN from the new instruments and enter your VIN, I think it's the last 7 digits and the tamper dot goes away. The only thing that I can advise is that the new / used instrument panel has lower mileage than your old one.

This is important because after a certain amount of travelling / mileage the LCM checks with the instruments to see if the mileage matches with it, if it doesn't and the instruments are lower it increases the mileage to match the LCM, therefore keeping your mileage correct and above board.

If you obtain a used instrument panel that has a mileage higher than your original then all of the ecu's will be overwritten with the higher mileage. That will then give the impression that the car has more mileage on it than it actually has.

The higher mileage on the used instruments cannot be decreased without serious surgery on it, it needs to have a chip taken off the board and reprogrammed. It's not impossible but it's quite a bit of work to do it.

The only thing is that if you've already fitted the higher mileage instruments then the LCM etc will already have been overwritten and there is no way back from that I'm afraid.

Point is not bothered about the dot just the air suspension, traction control and abs warning lights the car starts and runs fine

Was 145k replacement instruments are 137k made a note but at the age of the vehicle it doesn't really matter. Be nice if I could correct but just want to get rid of the warning lights.
I assume the vehicle the new instruments came off maybe had the faults so they are latched in the instruments. A reset might cure it but need to get to someone with the necessary. The fault is not there when I put the original instruments back.
And fed up because one of the back light bulbs on the new instruments has gone since I fitted it so got to strip the dash again  Mine was a blue one!

As the replacement has lower mileage they should adjust to the original mileage in about 400 to 600 miles. Do you have the IIDtool? If you do you'll be able to clear the faults down.

No don't have a 11D tool
Might be able to get it reset by a garage I know or tske vmaxer up on his offer Mine was a blue one!

the obd11 tools are vin locked
