What antifreeze do i need for my 2003 TD6 please guys? Has it got to be from JLR or can I get it from any motor spares place?

Anti-freeze

Use only ethylene glycol based anti-freeze (containing no methanol) with only Organic Acid Technology (OAT) corrosion inhibitors, to protect the cooling system

CAUTION: No other anti-freeze should be used with anti-freeze containing OAT corrosion inhibitors.

From my L322 2003 TD6 owners manual

Coolant Specification

Use ONLY a 50% mix of water and Texaco AFC coolant. If this is unavailable, use only ethylene glycol based anti-freeze (containing no methanol) with only Silicate based non-phosphate corrosion inhibitors .

I was always told that OAT antifreeze was for 2006 on models and for everything before that it's ethylene glycol based but containing no methanol and has to have silicate based non phosphate corrosion inhibitors.

Pete is bang on that you must not mix different types of antifreeze though, so when flushing you must do so thoroughly maybe 3 or 4 times with fresh water. When refilling mix your antifreeze with de-ionised water as this stops any build up of scale.

Mine (TD6) had the pink stuff (OAT) when I got it 8 years ago so been using that since, not had any issues.... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

rs 2000 totally agree but I have all my motors serviced at main dealers and you have to ask them to change had an argument with beadles to get them to do this year on my 2004 was done by lookers after asking 3 years ago lot to be said for servicing yourself if you have time for sure
