screws on top of dash

being an inquisitive type of chappy i noticed that there are half a dozen screws on top of my dash , if i take these out will the dash just pop off or is there other bits that need taking off first.. ... - .- -.

I think some of the dast top screws are hidden by the air vent covers at each end of dash.

Now I've often thought that the screws around the grill in the centre of the dash wouls lend themselves well to removal and replacement with something similar but that would afford a sort of tray to be placed on the dash as I have a few hobbies that could use some additional places in the car to place electrical items.
