I think the ad refers to alloy wheel nuts not alloy wheel nuts, erm what I mean is it looks as if they are for the alloy wheels not nuts made of alloy.

I'm confused now....... ______________________________

I took the ad to mean the wheel nuts were made from alloy , I should have mine Monday and will confirm. ( If it's obvious ) alternatively I can offer to post once a week and if I miss a couple of weeks then they might of been made from recycled tin cans !!! 2015 4.4 AB

I think you'll be ok. I've never come across wheel nuts made from alloy before.

You wouldn't be able to torque them down sufficiently for one thing.

Dolomite Sprint alloys wheels used to have alloy wheel nuts.

Remember though that the weight of the vehicle is transferred to the wheel via the protrusion of the hub into the centre hole of the wheel. They are a close tolerance fit. Wheel nuts alone, no matter how torqued up would not be sufficient to hold the wheel central to the hub if it weren't for the protrusion.

It's one reason why some wheel spacers in the 70's and 80's were so dangerous. Shocked Shocked 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

I have just rung the supplier of these solid nuts, and he confirms that they are made from steel and tested to 4x the manufacturer torque setting.

I have bought a set and intend using them next time I swap my wheels over from winter to summer tyres.
