I've done some reading and searching folks but here's the symptoms...

Not driven FF for a week. I never use the EPB. Drove it on Friday and on arrival at work the smell from the rear end was awful. Like hot metal, or a welding workshop !

Checked suspension as thought it could be compressor...all good there. It had new brakes in the summer and the rears are now squeaking (genuine LR all round).

Could this be a binding caliper or the EPB?

 Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

did you touch the wheel to see if it was hot [sticking caliper] ... - .- -.

Sounds like a sticky calliper to me.

As Stan says check for cooking hot brakes after a run. The usual fix is a new calliper, but the cause can be as simple as a corroded calliper carrier which traps the pads. Can be fixed with a file to the calliper carrier behind where the pads sit in the stainless clips.  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Caliper it is I think chaps, appreciate the replies. Caliper is cheaper than a compressor ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Strip the brake down and check the pads aren't stuck first. If they are a PItA to get out then the carrier is corroded. It's generally only surface rust and a good clean up may sort it before you invest in a new calliper. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Doesn't the EPB engage automatically after ignition off anyway so could it be that after all? 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
