The motors are easy, its the movement limits that could be your problem, instead of limit switches the control module will probably have inbuilt load sensing and cut power.

Hmm I know this is bad as its massively off topic but I see you are in Peterborough - what boat do you have and are the trim tabs any good? I have a 19ft bowrider inboard which struggles to plane with a full load I have got hydrofoils on the drive but wondered If trim tabs were any better?

![]() I've had tabs on a couple of boats & they seem to work very well - for getting on the plane & also for reducing porpoising (or bouncing around in choppy water) I used to boat in the UK, but mine lives in Bordeaux these days - Mastercraft X30 ![]()

I did it the other day and was going to reply to you but totally forgot, the casing just has 2 tabs, pop them off and a door opens up and the board slides out.

If the motors have five wires I imagine they will have a hall effect sensor inside to feed info back to the ECU as to their position, makes it very difficult to hot wire them and get them to work right, you need someone to make an ECU to work with the earlier canbus or I think you will burn out the motors...
