There are gadgets that you can buy on ebay, or via eBay you can have them wired into your unit in the boot to allow this.

I'd investigate the half volume issue - it should work just fine using the Aux input.

If I'm not mistaken you don't have to loose the CD player when you use the LR aux adaptor, but they are like Rocking Horse Poo Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Quick, this is the best way of connecting an ipod and the like... and they are really rare... I don't think they make them anymore

This is a bit more pounds but seems to give full integration for use with touch screen and steering wheel controls
