United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Galway Green
Oh dear, TD6 2003 auto clutch going?

Hi guys,

New car to me..... less than 1 week! And it feels like the clutch is starting to slip. I've done less than 400 miles in the car since we picked it up off the private dealer.

What's happening is when accelerating it feels as though the revs are increases disproportionately to the speed, until the speed catches up and then it balances out. Then today i had a TRANS. FAILSAFE PROG message on the display.

I had the car full service on Tuesday and now I've got this problem.

So now I'm thinking is this;
A: A previous issues that the private seller knew of?
B: Something the service has introduced? (I don't think they touch any of the transmission stuff though?)
C: Something unfortunate that's occurred in the week i've owned the car?

So what exactly is up? I live in Gloucestershire so need to take the vehicle to someone to have a look at, and fix without ripping me off. I'm reluctant to take it back to the land rover specialists that did the service on Tuesday now.

Any tips or things i can check?

Thanks

Whistle That all sounds pretty normal for a TD6.... it doesn't matter how hard you press the loud peddle it wont accelerate any quicker... regardless of what mode the gearbox is in... in fact the only thing that sport mode does is make more noise Shocked Try and find a TD6 owner near you and either cadge a ride or give them a lift... either way you'll know if it's your car or it's Whistle "normal" TD6 behaviour Laughing

Trans fail safe mode can be caused by a blocked cooler and / or lower rad... Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

You need diagnostic's, to show what fault's are coming up. To be fair to your dealer, if they just serviced it , then they probably wouldn't have known of the issue.
as nmj has just said, ctc is in Gloucestershire, top man so I believe.
If you were closer to me you could have a go in mine, she doesn't hang around, despite all you read on here, and the negatives of the td6.
greg. Thumbs Up

When I press the accelerator on my Td6 it goes faster, no apparently not keeping up with the engine speed.
I think you may need to go back to your dealer. Thumbs Up
