Mk4 nav crashing randomly

Hi all - I ought a mk4 nav a few months ago - quite late - dated 2006 and reads discs flawlessly no errors or anything... anyway it's started rebooting randomly so I flashed with matts v32 rr firmware but the same thing happens - what usually happens is it reboots while driving t may do it once or 3 times in a journey...
Last time out the whole screen just froze and I couldn't do anything with it until I switched the car off it froze for a good half hour

Make sure all your cables are secure and properly connected.

I had a similar issue many years ago and a good wiggle of the cables & connectors in the boot seemed to make it go away.

Hi mate

The fault is caused by the TMC system. If the sat nav unit is flooded by too many TMC messages all at once it causes the unit to reboot. It is the radio module at handles the TMC system and it is a known fault that can just develop in the system. I have a newer v32.2 firmware that I have modified to try and overcome this issue but I haven't been able to test it on different vehicles, if you would be willing to be a test case I can send you a download link to it?

Hi mate,

PM me your email address and I will send you a link to it, the newer firmware has helped a few owners that have the issues but it doesn't have a 100% success rate and if only really effects the very early radio units.

Hi Matt,

all installed and the sat nav works steady on normal driving as just a moving map, but when I input a location with directions it still crashes every 5 minutes, almost to the second. Checked the TMS is off. Still better than no Sat Nav, so thanks
