I take it yours wont clear either? I'm going to try a battery reset as I've just been informed it could be a glitch. Failing that I've a new upgraded thermostat to fit and hopefully that sorts it out...

I was considering the thermostat mod to try to clear the fault. Let me know if yours works Thumbs Up

The thermostat mod won't clear the fault...

It will put up this code...

0x48D Engine cooling fan control fault

It does not create a bong or put the engine light on

It is irrelevant and doesn't effect anything else, it is just a control and not a sensor... Thumbs Up Pete

I get ya ! ...any idea what could be triggering the fault then ? Car was fine until today until it started idling at 900rpm...that only stopped after I restarted car then fault appeared..only thing I've done to the car before it appeared was to leave a daft phone charger in the cigar socket for a few hours to see if its led switches off after cars asleep...obviously not related...do you think its worthwhile doing a battery reset? Cheers pete

It could be a fault within the thermostat but I doubt it, I really wouldn't worry about it and I doubt it has much to do with the engine revs, mine tends to wander around on these cold days, I recon it's something to do with the different air density as the temp drops but that's just my own theory...

As long as it pulls cleanly then I'm happy... Thumbs Up Pete

Have you had a look inside the thermostat plug? There's been posts on here about them melting and corroding inside near the contacts causing faults.

Probably best to remove the plastic engine cover and the air intake pipe from the air filter housing, not even a two minute job Thumbs Up ______________________________
