Alpine EZi-DAB Installation

Yesterday I eventually found some time to start the installation of this kit into my 07 FF.

The DAB aerial, and the Controller unit are now fitted, and the cables run though to the rear of the vehicle. I thought that if I installed it in the area, (rear left side of the load space), where all the other entertainment equipment is, it should be simple enough to find the connections I need.

Specifically: Permanent 12v, Ign switched 12v, Car FM Aerial (though I could probably manage without that) and the AUX audio input, (to inject the audio output from the EZi-DAB unit). I started looking for the AUX input first, expecting to be able to pick it up somewhere.

Unfortunately, I cannot find it.

The vehicle AUX input socket is in the rear console unit between the two front seats, but where the connection goes from there I have no idea.

I have looked at the electrical wiring diagrams on Topix, (415-00 INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM), and I can't even find the AUX socket, let alone where it goes.

So, has anyone else tried to use the AUX input for a similar purpose, or perhaps knows where to pick up the connection ?

Many thanks for any help and advice.

Mike

When I installed mine, I ran a phono cable to the rear entertainment connector in the back. Works a treat and is pretty unobtrusive.

Just out of interest, where did you install the antenna? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Hi

I stuck it on the passenger side of the windscreen, and ran the cable down the A pillar, and with an extension to the rear end.

I was trying to 'intercept' the AUX input, so that when we have the kids in the back the socket is still free and usable for them to plug their iPhones in, (and give me a headache).

Did you thread the cable under the carpet, or is there an easier route to the AUX socket ?

Mike

That's where I stuck mine initially but when I stuck a BlackVue camera next to the rear view mirror, it killed the DAB signal, so just be aware. I ended up putting a new antenna on the rear side window and all was well again.

I'm not quite clear on what you're trying to achieve with keeping the AUX socket clear for the kids. Even if you intercept the AUX input somewhere, you could end up with the DAB tuner AND the kids music playing at the same time if they use the AUX in at the rear. That would REALLY give you a headache!

To be honest, I can't remember how I routed the cable from the interface box (which is sited on the passenger footwell, under the glovebox) but it wasn't a huge deal. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Hi.

As you say, hearing the output of the kids iPhone at the same time as listening to the Archers on DAB, would a real headache job.

Hopefully this wont happen, as the EZi-DAB unit allows the selection of a signal on its AUX input, which is where I am hoping to connect the FF AUX socket.

We may end up negotiating over what we are listening too, but as the volume control is within my reach, my control over the volume is absolute Smile

Hi Mikey, I need to upgrade to a DAB+ in our FF07 as well (due to the fact that national radio stations in Norway will be moved to DAB+ nest year - the FM signals shut down), and of course ideally would have preferred to install an integrated MOST DAB device, but no such device exist for the 07 Vogue, I think.

If you find a solution to connect the AUX-out from the EZi-DAB to an AUX-in (or phono in?) in the DVD/BT/CD/Map-equipment area to the left in the rear load space, and get this to work, I'm very eager to follow your setup!

Will it be possible to use the MOST-AUX device from NAV-TV
https://navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT007/most...rover.html
to connect the EZi-DAB at the left rear boot component area to the Nav-system? Anyone that have done that?
