my 2005 td6 won't start turn the key all lights come on but when you turn the key to position 3 nothing happens fuel pump hums. no click from starter no crank over noise nothing dead as a dodo. any ideas please. thanks.

will head lights tuen on? sound like a duff battery

Hi, head lights are "normal" 12.5 volts ignition off. 12v on.

After the battery, the obvious is a dead starter motor - but I had similar on a Shogun and it was one of the inhibitor switches on the gearbox - it thought it was in drive so would not turn over. Not sure if any of the diagnostic tools can read the live data to see what position the inhibitor is in (I've not delved that far into mine yet).
