Also just run a credit card along the top edge of the seal.

Bow down Rolling with laughter

Also, What Dan said about waxing the seals/door shuts it (as usual) exactly right. Good maintenance too.

I have a couple of coats of FinishKare FK1000p hard wax on the car to protect it from all the salt and sh*te that's around during winter. I also found it easy to apply not like the old paste waxes- though sadly I now don't know Karate... Rolling Eyes

I use the Einszett Rubber Care as it's also a rubber conditioner so keeps the seals pliable etc. but silicon spray should work too.

Thumbs Up

Slightly off topic - but I also spray silicone spray on the air springs whenever she's jacked up with a wheel dangling. It should prevent cracking due to the rubber drying out and should give slight protection from nasties off the road.

I've done this on classics and P38's and never had to replace an air spring...

Of course... not washing the car helps!

I've used the PLf ....Plf.. treatment above and the seals have been fine. Not washed the car mind as mine lives outside and has to get me home at the end of the nightshift. Lights and number plate will get a swill as necessary. I am fortunate I guess that I don't have a massive commute under normal daily work circs.

Credit card does help but it's very easy to cut in to the seal as it is so brittle when cold.

The current weather is very current and the effect on our vehicles very relevant. The fact that it has been discussed earlier is not a major problem in my opinion. I would rather read threads like this than all the off topic crud that is posted on a daily basis. Forums are there to DISCUSS current situations not simply to be used as a reference point for an answer or fix - that will be what the fixed information library WIKI is for Confused

I went more basic with the frozen seals issue, I simply put vaselene on the felt strip and it worked a treat as it doesn't freeze easily and the door now opens every time without a hint of sticking. I does seem to be the felt strip that sticks on my car , as oppossed to the main rubber seal. I actually think I got the vaselene tip somewhere on this website but can remember where it was. Easy to get hold of aswell. Steve
